Avalon: The Isle of Apples

Avalon is a legendary island first mentioned in the writings of the ancient Greek geographer Pytheas. According to Pytheas, Avalon was located in the far north of the Atlantic Ocean, beyond the reach of the known world. He described it as a land of perpetual summer, where the sun never set and the trees bore fruit all year round.

In later Celtic mythology, Avalon became associated with the Isle of Apples, a mystical realm where the goddess Branwen took her wounded brother Bran the Blessed to be healed. In the Arthurian legend, Avalon is the final resting place of King Arthur, who was taken there by the Lady of the Lake after being mortally wounded at the Battle of Camlann.

Atlantis: The Lost City

Atlantis is perhaps the most famous of all the enchanted islands of the Atlantic. According to the Greek philosopher Plato, Atlantis was a vast and powerful empire that existed in the Atlantic Ocean around 11,000 years ago. Plato described Atlantis as a utopian society, with advanced technology and a wise and just government.

However, Atlantis was eventually destroyed by a series of earthquakes and floods. Plato's account of Atlantis has been the subject of much debate and speculation over the centuries. Some people believe that Atlantis was a real place that sank beneath the waves, while others believe that it was simply a myth created by Plato.
